Princess Bride parody: Turn over your illegals. I have no illegals. Homan, throw him in prison. Oh, you mean these illegals.

On December 22 I received an email from Rob Bonta, the California Attorney General. Here’s the opening paragraph from the email:

As President-elect Trump and his incoming administration spout inhumane, illogical, fiscally irresponsible plans that would threaten our immigrant communities, California DOJ stands ready to protect, defend, and enforce immigrant rights.²[emphasis mine]

Classic progressive speech. We’re all supposed to believe that Trump is against immigrants, when Robby knows the President-elect and those that elected him are against ILLEGAL immigrants, not LEGAL immigrants. But Robby doesn’t have the balls to say “illegal immigrants” because he knows that would give the whole game away, not that the game has not been given away already (thanks to X and Substack). Not once in the entire email does Robby even mention the word “illegal” in reference to immigration.

Did some woke intern think “fiscally irresponsible” sounded good? Was it fiscally responsible to support millions of illegals instead of citizens? Was that logical? Was it humane to encourage human trafficking, to support policies responsible for the deaths and rapes of children and the murders of American citizens? I hope Robby stands firm in his convictions and ends up in jail for the rest of his life. He deserves it.

Then Robby Bonehead goes on to say:

Immigrants are the backbone of our state and nation — we won’t shy away from welcoming and supporting them, regardless of who is in the White House or leading Congress.²[emphasis mine]

This is a tired cliché. It is meant both to propagandize and demoralize American citizens. I did a search on Google for “immigrants are the backbone” and received pages and pages of results. Did you know that immigrants are the backbone

of New York’s culture and economy
of Los Angeles County and California
of our nation’s successes and history
of our border communities
of our economy, history, and culture

of many of Maine’s biggest and most essential industries
of our food system and ensure we can eat
of Boston
of a lot of mountain communities in Colorado
of the South African Economy
of Brooklyn
of this country’s infrastructure
of Wisconsin dairy

What’s left for citizens? We’re just riding on the shoulders of all these immigrants? No wonder they’re trying to replace us, we’re just a worthless bunch of freeloaders. We could, however, move to Canada or South Africa to be the backbone of their prosperity and economy.

The phrase has lost all meaning. Who are we talking about? Legal immigrants? Illegals? Children of legal immigrants? Ancestors of legal immigrants? No one knows and no one is asking. Politicians love using clichés because they don’t have to think or explain themselves.

But I’ll be watching Robby…when push comes to shove, he’s going to fold, just like the mayors, governors and others will if they think they’re looking at jail time. Immigrants, the illegal ones, will suddenly not be that important. Or will they? I guess we’ll see what kind of commitment these people have when they’re looking at time behind bars and if the belief systems they hold will sustain them long enough to follow through with their tough talking and hubris. I doubt it.

Our warriors, our people, MAGA, they’ve shown, as Sam says in The Lord of the Rings movie, their “quality.” Trump, the J6ers, Bannon, Navarro and regular people have a belief system that sustained them under dire circumstances—even prison time and attempted assassinations.

Let’s see how Robby and his ilk hold up.
