We’re not supposed to choose a side! This is the time to come together! This is the time for unity!
That time is long past, but hopefully the Charlie Kirk assassination will convince people on the fence or on the wrong side that they need to move to the right side.
And there is a right side. There is a side that stands for truth—not perfectly—but far, far closer to it than the other side: the Left, the Globalists, the progressives, the woke, the Democrats—however you want to label them. They are the wrong side. They are not like us. They’re not. Don’t pretend they are.
I was reading a liberal commentator this morning who came up on my Substack feed. I guess Substack is trying to persuade me to move to the wrong side. Here’s what he wrote:
On Wednesday night I wrote a piece about Charlie Kirk and kept the comments off. I want to explain my thinking.
First off: It’s not that I don’t trust you guys to be your best selves and display grace, empathy, and wisdom.2
Jonathan, you hypocrite, you know that’s exactly why you turned the comments off despite your lame explanation. You know that you have a large percentage of followers and subscribers who are lunatics and who will celebrate the murder of Charlie Kirk and you were worried about it. Be a man, Jonathan, champion free speech, Jonathan—see the horror for yourself. Contrast this with el gato malo:
i have, over the years and seemingly more so of late, had many people ask me to close the comments on bad cattitude to non-subscribers because they did not like what people were saying.
i’m not going to do that.
i do not think it’s the right thing to do.3
Charlie Kirk was assassinated and our side holds vigils. Vigils where people pray and sing and remember, without, I can hardly believe this, burning down buildings, attacking police, throwing bricks, injuring people and causing as much mayhem as possible.
We are not the same.
They do not want us to have the right to speak. They would prefer to murder us. Kirk was an amiable guy. He talked with people, engaged them and, yes, often disagreed with them. He wanted discourse to combat the divide. So they murdered him.
There is no disagreeing with these people. These are the kinds of people the Left leadership has produced through the continued demonization of Trump, conservatives, Christians and MAGA in their speeches, in their media and on their networks. Then when something like this happens these “leaders” start talking about how terrible it was and how this kind of thing shouldn’t happen, trying to guilt trip us, trying to appeal to our morality when they have none. Here’s Chuck Schumer:
Coming together is what we ought to be doing. Not pointing fingers of blame.4
This from the same man who threatened SCOTUS. We’re pointing at you, Chucky Boy, get used to it. You’re to blame. Lawyer up.
We are not the same. These people are evil.
And it is a war, not in the traditional, conventional sense, but it is a war nonetheless and no less important a war then when the colonists were fighting the British for freedom and independence. These people hate us.
Choose the right side.
