The Invisible Coup: How American Elites and Foreign Powers Use Immigration as a Weapon by Peter Schweizer is an excellent book. It’s an important book. But it is a book that is difficult to read without getting angry, maybe even a little depressed. You may even put it down while reading it to do the dishes or look for some consolation from your dog. When you pick it up again—you’ll shake your head. You might curse. You may decide it would be better to eat ice cream and watch The Princess Bride. This is a hard book.

But you should read this book.

The Trump administration should read this book.

I could only take about 30 minutes at a time, then I’d take a break, walk around, maybe do some yard work, a little writing and then come back to it. This book bothered me more than any other book I’ve read (40+ book reviews) since starting The Asylum. I’m sitting here writing this and asking myself why is that? I’ve felt melancholy the last couple of weeks and upon reflection the content of this book is partly responsible.

The Invisible Coup is about exactly what the subtitle says it is: how mass immigration has been used as a weapon against the U.S. This started with Fidel Castro. He realized he could send his worst criminals, his poorest citizens and spies to the U.S. all while making our government believe they were involved in some great, humanitarian effort. But he was only the first. Who else has been doing this to the U.S?

The list goes on…

Many of these people, particularly Mexican elites and radicals are open about what they want to do: change American culture. Mass Illegal immigration is an effective way to do it. Individualism offends them, collectivism is their answer. The Mexican government and radical Mexican groups, many in the U.S., counsel Mexicans NOT to assimilate into the U.S. Some of them hope one day they can take back the Southern United States. They are told to keep their culture, to, in many cases, despise the U.S. system while exploiting its prosperity and generosity.

Mexico and many South American countries blame the U.S. and not their Marxist / Communist systems for the ills of their countries and teach those they send to the U.S., and they are sending them, the same. All those foreign flags being waved by the illegals as they crossed into our country make a lot more sense after reading this book.

The Invisible Coup is exhaustively researched. I knew mass illegal migration was terrible, like others called it an “invasion,” but the scale of it and the length of time it has been happening was new to me. I suppose that’s part of what bothered me.

I think the other aspect that angered me is that the generosity of the American people has been exploited and manipulated for decades by countries and individuals who lack our moral standards. Our high trust society has been too generous to those who, ultimately, hate us—including our own government. The Islamists are currently taking full advantage of that both here and in Europe. We’ve been gullible and too nice and our enemies are evil enough to pilfer everything they can from the U.S. while trying to destroy America’s culture and heritage.

Steve Bannon said this about the book:

I hope you’re rattled, audience. I hope you’re rattled to your core because, this book, if you read it, will rattle you to your core.²

He’s not wrong.

As many of us know the Democrats are terrified of ICE operations because they’ve been using illegal immigration to increase their voting base. That’s been happening since Clinton and Obama, but Biden is the champ in that regard. What his administration did to this country through illegal immigration, in my mind, is treasonous, because it was not ignorance or incompetence, it was intentional. They knew exactly what they were doing.

But it’s not just votes they want, they want to destroy the U.S. and implement a Marxist, collectivist society.

They [many illegal immigrants] bring and maintain a collectivist mindset that is antithetical to the American way. And foreign governments like Mexico and China use their vast networks, including consulates, in the US to challenge the American system with Marxist ideals.³

What we’ve been dealing with for decades is subversion:

Subversion is an effort by which the values and principles of a system are reversed or contradicted to undermine and sabotage an established social order.⁴

At the end of the book Schweizer lists a number things the U.S. must do to stop what’s happening: no dual citizenships, stiff vetting for immigrants, no political contributions from non-citizens, “ban birth tourism and surrogacy as a means of citizenship,” expel diplomats involved in political activities, “enforce laws that restrict the participation of foreign nationals and foreign political organizations in American politics,” review student visas and better oversight on the citizenship process.⁵

If America is to survive, her citizens must stop apologizing for exposing the illegal immigration of Mexicans, Chinese, Muslims, Africans and others for what it is: a clandestine, military-type invasion of our country that “exploits American openness and generosity” to subvert our ideals and our way of life.⁶
